Kate Scarbrough

Kate Scarbrough serves as the firm’s Head of Legal Operations and maintains a selective legal practice. She brings significant experience handling complex employment and business matters, developed over years as a partner at a national law firm and later as Senior Vice President of Employment and Litigation at the nation’s largest home health, hospice, and community care provider, with operations in more than 40 states.

Kate advises clients from both an advocate and in-house perspective, with a focus on identifying, managing, and mitigating employment and business risk. Her experience includes internal investigations, policy and procedure development, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenant matters, discrimination and retaliation claims, administrative charges, and proceedings involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and U.S. Department of Labor. She advises businesses through sensitive personnel matters, including high-level terminations, executive separations, and other situations requiring careful legal and strategic coordination. She has also tried cases to verdict before judges and juries.

Kate is known for providing practical, business-oriented advice and developing litigation and operational strategies aligned with client objectives. Her experience across law firm, corporate, and executive leadership roles allows her to deliver solutions that are efficient, compliant, and grounded in real-world considerations.

She represents executives in contract negotiations, business transactions, and restrictive covenant matters, and provides general counsel-level guidance and training to companies and leadership teams. Kate is also a Tennessee Rule 31 Mediator and accepts a limited number of mediations.

 

Originally from Hahira, Georgia, Kate grew up in a family business focused on airfield paving, which has since expanded into pecan farming and citrus operations. She lives in Franklin, Tennessee with her family and spends her time outside the office involved in architectural design projects and other creative pursuits, in addition to volunteering in school and community initiatives.
